A Clear Vision for District 1 and Independence

Independence is a place where thoughtful leadership matters. My priorities focus on responsible decisions, strong neighborhoods, and ensuring residents have a voice in the future of our city.

Financial Transparency & Responsible Budgeting

Residents deserve clear visibility into how public funds are allocated and how long-term debt decisions are made. When finances are difficult to track, confidence erodes.

I will advocate for restoring detailed line-item budgeting, strengthening public reporting on bond obligations, and providing transparent tracking of TIF and CID funds and major capital projects. Taxpayers should not have to search through documents to understand where their money is going — clarity should be standard, not optional.

Infrastructure Before Expansion

Deferred maintenance doesn’t disappear — it compounds. Roads, bridges, and public facilities must be maintained before new large-scale projects or additional long-term debt are approved. I support a “maintenance first” approach to capital planning that prioritizes safety, durability, and long-term financial stability.

Strong infrastructure is not optional — it is foundational.

Safe Streets. Strong Neighborhoods.

Public safety and neighborhood stability are foundational to everything else we do. Residents deserve streets that are maintained, responsive city services, and leadership that supports first responders while ensuring accountability.

I believe strong communities are built through consistent communication, proactive code enforcement, and thoughtful planning that protects property values and quality of life. When neighborhoods are safe and well cared for, families thrive — and our entire city benefits.

Accountable Growth. Real Representation.

Accountable growth requires clear guardrails, measurable public benefit, and meaningful public input. Economic development should strengthen our community — not gamble with it. I support performance-based agreements, full transparency before commitments are finalized, and development decisions that respect infrastructure capacity and long-term financial stability.

Representation must carry as much weight as development. District 1 residents should never feel sidelined on decisions that affect their homes, taxes, or neighborhoods. When neighborhoods feel safe, heard, and well cared for, families thrive — and so does our city. I will host opportunities for residents to share concerns and ask questions and ensure community voices influence outcomes — not just headlines.

Strong governance standards anchor both. I will support strict conflict-of-interest enforcement and insist that major decisions align clearly with charter requirements and transparent public procedures. Accountability is not optional — it is foundational.

These priorities reflect a commitment to responsible leadership, transparency, and practical solutions that strengthen our neighborhoods and the future of Independence.

“My decisions will be guided by principle, not pressure.”
